Luke Ross
Luke is a Wellington local with eight years of experience working in the screen and TV industry. He obtained a Bachelor of Broadcasting Communications in 2018 and has worked for numerous post-production facilities across New Zealand and the United Kingdom. In 2022, Luke moved back to Wellington and worked as a video producer at the Parliamentary Service, and then the Wellington City Council. During this time, he's run his own business as a certified post-production trainer. Luke is a teacher at heart. He loves explaining, discussing and debating complex topics at length, whether that is the latest post-production trend or the latest policy from the Beehive.
”My superpower is my optimism”, Luke says. "I never take myself too seriously, and this helps me bridge the gap with people who have different perspectives.”
Luke’s background is in video production, movies, fantasy and storytelling - and he believes that inspired storytelling can help lead the changes that society needs right now. He believes that the Opportunity Party is the only party championing a vision for New Zealand that is worth fighting for.
“We need evidence-based, calm, rational discussions that prioritise the environment and our business community. We need a stable, bi-partisan partner in the house. We need to work directly with citizens to foster trust and solve some of our largest issues.”
Luke recently purchased his first home in Silverstream, with his partner Alice and their dog Louie. Luke is happy to be back in the valley - his mother’s side of the family is from Upper Hutt and he has fond memories of his childhood playing with his Nana on Fergusson Drive and hanging out with his cousins in Kingsley Heights. Luke is a keen runner and can be found out and about in the community most days. He is looking forward to connecting with his local constituents to help bring their ideas forward to Parliament in 2026.
