Sacha Haskell
Sacha Haskell is a proven executive leader, former police detective, and community advocate with more than two decades of leadership experience across government, infrastructure, finance, sport, culture and community development.
She has held senior executive roles with organisations including FIFA, New Zealand Rugby, Te Papa, Rabobank, Fletcher Building, and local government organisations across New Zealand.
Sacha is recognised for her ability to navigate complex challenges involving public accountability, economic growth, infrastructure delivery, and community wellbeing. Her experience spans major international events, commercial and marketing strategies, organisational transformation, stakeholder engagement, and governance leadership.
Before moving into executive leadership, Sacha served as a Detective and an Armed Offenders Squad member with New Zealand Police, becoming one of the first first females selected for the Armed Offenders Squad. That experience shaped her lifelong commitment to public service, resilience under pressure, and community.
She has also represented New Zealand at elite sporting level as vice captain of the New Zealand Women’s Football Team scoring 8 goals from 16 international caps.
With strong professional and personal roots in Auckland and Wellington she sees a closer symbiosis between central government and the cities is possible, not division.
Sacha is standing for The Opportunities Party because she believes New Zealand needs courageous, evidence-based and smart leadership focused on long-term solutions rather than short-term flip flopping politics that New Zealanders have had enough of.
As a candidate for Tāmaki, Sacha brings a unique combination of executive experience, frontline public service, commercial acumen and community leadership. She understands how to lead in high-pressure environments, how to build consensus across diverse groups, and how to deliver outcomes that balance economic growth with social wellbeing.
Above all, she believes politics should be about service, integrity, and creating practical solutions that improve people’s everyday lives.
