Kaperiere "Pāpā" Wharewera

Pāpā is a husband, father, community leader, small business owner, and elected local government representative, whose life has been shaped by service.

Born and raised in Whakatāne, his professional career has spanned military service, Fire and Emergency New Zealand, professional rugby, local government and small business ownership. Across each of these roles, he has worked alongside people during times of challenge, change, and opportunity. 

Pāpā values integrity, transparency, and accountability. He knows trust is earned through consistent action, honest communication, and a willingness to work and engage with people from all walks of life. His approach to leadership is guided by evidence, informed by lived experience, and grounded in a genuine commitment to serving others.
