Michael Carter
With a background in Architecture, Michael Carter is passionate about the built and natural environments, and is a strong advocate for sustainable & resilient development that benefits future generations.
Michael grew up in Christchurch but now calls Tauranga home with his wife and dog. Completing a Master of Architecture degree at Auckland University, he has worked in Architecture for over 9 years and knows how to come up with creative solutions to solve problems in a holistic way. He understands the importance of alternative transport options, and how they can be used as a tool to increase the connectivity between and within urban centres, which can enhance the lives of people living in them.
Outside of work, he enjoys tramping, fishing and attending live music events. Having grown up with many holidays tramping in the Southern Alps, he understands the importance of protecting our environment both land and sea. This has influenced Michael to start pest trapping and he is now currently restoring a small native forest in the Tauranga region.
Michael is motivated to stand for the Tauranga electorate and encourage younger people to get out and vote for a positive future.
