Jamie Attenborough
Jamie was born in London and was raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. After completing his Honours in Molecular and Cell Biology, he moved to Auckland with his family in 2018. Jamie studied a Masters in Bioscience Enterprise at the University of Auckland.
Jamie is passionate about getting smart ideas out of the lab and into the real world. For the last 6 years, he has worked in various roles in Auckland’s buzzing health technology sector, culminating in his current job working in quality systems management.
Jamie has always had an interest in politics, and after studying public policy coursework in his spare time he became fascinated with innovation in policy. His fascination turned to frustration at successive governments that preferred to tweak the system rather than implementing bold, 21st century solutions.
For Jamie, Opportunity’s focus on solutions grounded in evidence and bipartisan agreement is exactly what New Zealand needs to secure a prosperous, resilient future.
When not working or promoting Opportunity, Jamie may be found playing a boardgame, reading history, or on a tennis court as an active member of his local tennis club.
Jamie moved to Mt Roskill in 2024 and lives with his husband after getting married in late 2025. As immigrants, they love the diversity of Mt Roskill and the way they have been warmly welcomed and accepted as members of the community.
