Almo Wong

Almo is an Aotearoa New Zealand born Kiwi Chinese who is a proud Westie.

He grew up in West Auckland having served as a volunteer first responder with Hato Hone St John Ambulance and more recently as an active Justice of the Peace.

Attending Avondale College gave him a strong appreciation for the diverse cultures and the wealth disparities that shape our society. He studied at Auckland University, obtaining a Bachelor of Engineering with honours, as well as obtaining a Masters in Public Policy.

He has a professional background in electrical engineering, project management, and public policy. Almo has also served on voluntary boards and committees for charities in healthcare and the public sector.

He has contributed to infrastructure and policy projects across the country and values integrity in central government policy making.

Almo first joined The Opportunity Party in 2022 and helped campaign manage for the Mt Albert candidate in the 2023 general election. 

He was drawn to the party because he is passionate about a fairer New Zealand where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and make a difference, regardless of their socioeconomic background.
