Adrian Mee
Adrian Mee was born in Christchurch.
He has worked in healthcare for over 40 years. For the majority of this time he has worked as a medical laboratory scientist, with roles in Christchurch, New Plymouth, Palmerston North and also Oxford (UK). He has also worked for a number of years as an infection control advisor for a District Health Board. Adrian, because of his science background, likes the evidence-based policies of the Opportunity Party. Adrian is also a small business owner, who through his own personal experience acknowledges that the current economic environment is a challenging time for small business.
Adrian lives with his wife in the Selwyn District, having moved to Selwyn from Christchurch City about 4 years ago. Adrian’s earliest connection to the Selwyn District however, is when he lived in Sheffield while his father was principal at Sheffield School. Adrian’s first game of rugby for the Sheffield Rugby Club (aged about eight) and a freestyle medal in the Malvern Swimming Association Swimming Sports are two of his fond memories.
Adrian is a father who has two adult children, both living in the North Island. He is proud of the achievements of both his children. He is sad that a large number of our young people are disillusioned about their future in New Zealand. He feels we can create a far better future for our children and grandchildren with better decisions made now. He strongly believes that all New Zealanders should have an equal say in our future through our democratic process, Sadly, he feels that our democracy has been influenced by corporate and lobby group interests.
Adrian has decided to stand as the Opportunity Party Candidate in Selwyn because he passionately believes they can be an influence for change for good in parliament. He also believes they will genuinely listen to the will of New Zealanders on the issues that are important.
Adrian is a keen tramper with a love of the mountains, particularly in the Arthurs Pass area where he first started his adventures. He believes that our natural environment should be protected and preserved for future generations.
